About C+A Design

C+A Design was founded in 2009 by Andy Clifton and Adam Slade, and since then, our team has grown in response to our expanding client base. We pride ourselves on delivering high-quality work that is specifically tailored to the unique needs of each client, earning us repeat business from various sources. Our success is driven by our use of the latest technology and a commitment to ongoing staff development, which enables us to provide innovative solutions to our clients' design challenges. At the core of our accomplishments is our dedicated team, whose hard work and passion are integral to everything we do.

Meet the Team

Company co-founder, Adam qualified with a First in Architectural Technology from Sheffield Hallam University. He is vastly experienced in the retail design sector as well as in commercial and residential sectors, and has delivered numerous petrol filling stations throughout the UK for ASDA Stores Ltd and other clients. Adam is married to Susie and they have three children and a dog. When he’s not running around after his sons (and dog), he can either be found walking in the peaks or supporting his childhood team, Oxford United.

Andy has over 40 years of architectural experience since joining the industry in 1974. After rising through the ranks and gaining experience in managerial positions, he eventually began a practice in 2006, which later became C+A Design in 2009. His dedication and positive work philosophy, which he has applied to his partnerships with clients and colleagues, has enabled him to deliver high quality services and programming. When Andy isn’t propping up the bar in his local he is either walking his dog with his wife or standing on the terraces at Hillsborough.

Mark has over 20 years experience in the architectural business, having originally trained at Sheffield Hallam University. His vast knowledge, attention to detail and strong work ethic have aided his role as Architectural Technologist, and led to his management position. Mark's speciality lies in the retail sector and he has delivered multiple Home Shopping Schemes for ASDA Stores Ltd, which he takes a lead on for the company. He enjoys going for walks with his wife, two children and dog, and is a keen runner, having completed the London Marathon and multiple half-marathons.

Matthew trained at the University of Sheffield before qualifying as an Architect in 2014. He is a certified Passivhaus designer and has worked within a number of practices and sectors including master planning, housing, retail, public buildings and rail. He joined C+A Design in 2012 and is particularly proficient in planning advice, construction law and specification writing. Matthew developed a love for African architecture while studying at university and in his spare time enjoys reading, spending time with his local church and making things – particularly anything for his house or garden.

Becky studied Architecture at University, completing her Part One in Manchester and Part Two back in her hometown of Sheffield. She has since worked for two Architectural practices in Sheffield, and most recently as a freelance Architect for two years. Her attention to detail, technical drawing skills and proficiency in leading projects make her an asset to the team. When not at work, Becky loves spending time in the Peak District and can often be found hiking, climbing or cycling.

Josh graduated from the University of Leeds in 2014 and gained over 4 years of experience as a structural engineer and BIM technician in London, before moving to Sheffield to work for C+A Design. He has worked on a wide variety of residential, educational, commercial and retail projects and his strengths in BIM/Revit, 3D modelling and structural coordination make him a valuable member of the team. Outside of the practice, Josh enjoys baking sourdough bread, pastries and desserts and does Crossfit as often as possible.

George completed a master’s degree in Architecture and Urban design at Manchester University, following an undergraduate degree in Architectural Technology at Sheffield Hallam University. Since then, he has gained experience working as a draftsman and in urban design. He was able to hone his skills in creative problem solving in these jobs and brings this strength to his role at C+A Design. Outside of the office George helps runs the charity, Football for Foodbanks, which he also helped to set up. He occasionally freelances as a graphic designer and enjoys watching the football as a well-earned break.

Becky studied English at Liverpool University and since has worked as a teacher, as well as an administrator. Her experience ranges from working for small local businesses through to the NHS. She has spent time living and working abroad, in Switzerland and Vietnam, and has now settled in her hometown, Sheffield. Her organisational skills, graphic design ability and attention to detail have helped keep the office running smoothly. She enjoys learning new creative skills and tries to spend as much time outdoors as much as possible, whether walking or wild swimming.

Luke has just graduated from Sheffield Hallam University, having studied Architectural Technology, and is particularly competent in computer software including CAD and Revit. His drive and ability to pick things up quickly has ensured he has fitted well into the team. In his spare time, Luke can be found hurtling down a hill on a mountain bike, playing the drums and expanding his love of Asian food – whether cooking or exploring new restaurants.

Anda grew up in Romania before studying Architecture at the University of Sheffield. She joined C+A Design as a Part One after graduating and her desire to find solutions to problems, ability to pick things up quickly and her proficiency in Photoshop have meant she’s settled quickly into the team. Her interests lie in creating effective spaces for people to inhabit and exploring environmental approaches to architecture. When not in the office, she enjoys running, walking and has recently begun making jewellery.

James is currently studying Architectural Technology, part-time at Sheffield Hallam University. He has been part of the C+A Design team since February 2020, following a period of work experience, and his Revit skills paired with his natural attention to detail and creative design skills have meant he is a valuable member of the team. Since joining the firm, James has worked on EV charging projects and gained experience in the PFS sector. He has a passion for fast cars.

Dale has recently returned to C+A Design following a couple of years out of the sector. He graduated from the University of Huddersfield having studied Architecture and has experience working at several practices across the UK. Prior to his career in architecture he worked for over 15 years fitting-out business interiors and refurbishing commercial units, and his practical skills matched with his design ability make him a valuable asset to the team. Dale can often be found renovating his home, relaxing with his family and enjoying the Formula One.
